Disc Oh!

When I was growing up in Las Cruces some of the guys I worked with had a disc that was make from an old plow disc and the burner from a hot water heater. During the winter they would often break it out and cook up venison, elk or whatever meat they had.  The recipe were always pretty much the same, meat, onions, jalapenos, salt, pepper and garlic. No matter what they cooked it was always delicious.  I was convinced there was some magic in that disc that made everything taste better than the sum of it’s parts. On special occasions they would cook up liver and onions with lots of jalapenos. If liver and onions could taste good there had to be magic in that disc.

Well a few years back I noticed a disc, with a burner on a custom stand at the propane store.  I had to freaking get one. I found out they were being made by a local company, disc-it.com.  So I got one for Christmas, which means I went and got it but Cheryl paid for it.  They custom made the skull legs for me.  I’m not sure what I had to buy her for Christmas that year, I think it was a Coach bag.  I think she got the better end of that deal because you can’t cook anything in a Coach bag.

It’s turned out to be a great little cooking toy.  I have cooked burgers, fried potatoes, stir frys and even made french toast and bacon on it the other day.  There is magic in that disc, but I don’t think I’m going to be wasting it on any liver and onions any time soon.
